Hardship...
I will never understand why Tesco were granted permission to open a shopping emporium so close to my home. Surely a Waitrose "to go" would have been a far superior option (if such an establishment even existed), even a Sainsbury's "Local" - but well, hey ho, onwards and upwards - these are just more of the daily hardships I endure...
I am rather fond of their Tesco's Finest Chablis though, so I tripped in there for some light refreshments after work this evening when I got off the bus. I really needed a drink.
Hywel (our graduate trainee) has really shocked me this afternoon. We had all been drinking espresso after lunch, and so I naturally took the small metal box of mints from my handbag and offered them around. Hywel looked at me aghast.
"You are offering E's out just like they are sweets," he announced.
Myself and Lydia looked at him in disgust.
"No darling man, these are simply sweets to freshen your breath, what kind of company do you keep?" I asked.
I am not sure at all about that frightful boy. It really has been rather a perplexing day...

Wonder if you've missed the opportunity to be a responsible citizen here DM? Maybe you should have offered to sell the contents of the metal box to Hywel at a handsome profit before you disabused him. You could have been responsible for a rash of good behaviour and fresh breath at clubs around London this evening... And of course, spent the proceeds on shoes.
Lovely Potty Mummy,
You really are terribly clever. I wish I had been wearing an ear piece and you could tell me what to do.
DM is this the same chap who muttered that his girlfriend didn't understand his relationship with his mother?
I think someone has just wasted a lot of money on his education!
Commiserations re. Tesco. My husband would divorce me if I ever bought anything from there, he insists I go to Waitrose...shame!
Oh my darling Frog!
I know now you share my pain! Some people just don't understand about Tesco! It is indeed the same Hywel! Indeed - a university education can not give a child common sense... can it?
Dulwich Mum you must know that Tesco have been granted permission to build absolutely everywhere. The entire country will soon become one big Tesco Land, even Dulwich will not be immune. Ask your local council, you will find they have been given a lot of money by the company to grant this permission. Surely the John Lewis chain have more money and could easily out bid them. Gosh I'm ranting!
Darling Ingenious Rose,
Have you seen the enormous tasteless illuminous signs outside their stores? surely it is a dignity at work issue for the employees?
Please send Waitrose to North Northumberland....
Yes, we all have perplexing days like that sometimes!!!!
Hope your graduate trainee realises what mints are!
I have blogged about SL&S and will pos tit on Monday.
OHMYGOD! DJ Kirkby!!!
How exciting! I can't wait to see. Thank you.
DM x
Surely it would be cocaine in Dulwich, anyway? Isn't E too cheap...
Darling M&M,
The only drug I know anything at all about is Botox!
